Meme and fic stuff
Mar. 28th, 2007 11:14 pmHey, take a crack at this, eh?
Snagged from a bunch of people on my flist.
1) Go to the list of my fic [here] and pick out a line or three from one of my stories. (Must be a full line, please -- no sentence fragments or speech tags or other such nonsense.)
2) I will respond with which story of mine I think it's from.
3) A drabble to anyone who stumps me.
Feel free to take me up on one of my prompts here and then prompt me in return. We could get this whole back and forth thing going. I've found that since I've started doing
spn_j2_bigbang I'm not working on anything else, even though I have 50-ish plotbunnies sitting around my google docs account and I WANT to work on them. So instead I'm trying to write smaller things all over the place to stop the bunnies from eating my brain stem. I broke 17,000 words last night in my BigBang, which is great, but I'm still having the gelling issue with it. I half think it's just in my head.
I think it's like- I don't KNOW these characters. Which I know sounds weird but because it's RPS you're basically taking some character traits you recognize from the boys in public appearances and smushing them into fic around a personality. You can do pretty much WHATEVER you want with them and no one will ever know the difference (unless you're sekritly BFFs with Jensen and/or Jared, in which case- hi, I'm sane, really. Promise.) but in my fic they don't seem to want to present themselves to me. I still think it's because I have the whole thing mapped out so well in my outline that I expect it all to just fall on the page and it be perfect.
GAH! I don't even know. I just don't. *pokes at it* I keep saying I might start a writing filter or something but I don't know if that would help at all. Why aren't they clicking with me? I think I'm too close or something. I've also been jumping around a lot in the fic because I'm a non-linear writer. If a scene pops into my head that has to be written RIGHT THEN I have to write it or risk losing the perfect way it sounds and feels in my head, even if it's at the very, very end and I have nothing else to match it to. I'm almost done part 1, though. So that's good. Once I get it written out I think I can start like- welding it together so it flows better.
Anyone else encountering issues like this with their BigBangs? What obstacles ARE you coming up against? Anyone getting sick of their fic now that they've been spending so much time on it? (I worried that might happen to me but thankfully I'm still invested in it and eager to see what happens next, lol) Anyone not started yet? *eyes a few of you* You know who you are.
