Spring cleaning for the intarwebs

I just did a pretty big defriending of people and communities. I've been friending people on memes who I really don't know that well and I'm stepping into new fandoms, away from people who I didn't have much in common with in the first place. I'm finding it hard to keep up with everything as it is, as I'm sure everyone else knows as I also defriended a few journals of people who haven't updated in awhile.

I know it's not that big a deal to defriend people on LJ and all but I just wanted to let people know, if they were oddly curious, that I'm just cleaning the friends list, nothing personal. Either we didn't comment at all on each other's journals (and I'm one of the first to admit that I suck with commenting, which is another reason to trim the flist- to increase that) or we really didn't have anything in common or we just drifted out of the same interests or something. Most of the posts I make lately are unlocked and fandom-related so it's not that big a deal anyway.

I feel cheesy for even having written one of these posts but I always feel bad when I defriend people.

I suck at cleaning my flist. I always end up adding new comms & friends so it ends up just as big or bigger.

I go through periods about once a month where I feel the need to clean things up. I'm not good with keeping filters straight and there's the comfort factor and trust and everything and I don't want to make others feel they have to keep me friended when we never talk or comment so I clean it up every so often. It's kind of weird, this mentality I have about it. It's the same with icons. I add a few and delete a few and I only have 58 uploaded! I'm totally insane.

I'm better with icons. 50 was never enough, but with 100 I was scared to use them all up so I only added what I really wanted. I think I just hit 70 or 80. Now with the free icon thing I get 109 and Ihaven't added any new ones.

I felt bad too, when I defriended the few people I did way back, while only one of them actually cared and I friended her back again. But yeah, I find it a pretty hard task, but I hope that it feels good, in the end that is, that you did it. And I'm only glad that I'm still on your list :D

I do feel a bit more comfortable with my flist now. I don't like using filters too much because I can never remember who's on what and which one I'm using and if I'm posting something I don't want to go certain places and ugh. It just gets too confusing. And I was at the point where I was (and still am, to some extent) looking at some people on my flist and I had NO idea who they were or where they came from.

And of course you're still on my flist! :D :D :D

I dislike doing f-list cuts but sometimes it's just necessary. I do f-list cuts at times and feel guilty for it but then the people I cut usually doesn't notice until months later and then I'm all "Pffft" about it. ;)

Yeah, it is necessary. It also provides an out for someone else because, really, if you don't talk and haven't commented in forever but the other one hasn't made the first move yet, you might as well just get on with it. I do sometimes feel bad about defriending people I've had on my flist forever but *shrugs* what are you doing to do?

I always wish there were someway of getting people to remove you, when you haven't added them. I'm a tad anal about things looking neat and it means the userinfo doesn't and I don't like hiding the Friend of section.

Now you're going to wish you'd defriended me, cos am clearly bananas.

lmao I generally don't care if people add me without wanting me to add them back or anything. I post a lot of fandom stuff that's all unlocked so I guess it's to be expected. Why listen to me whine and blather on when they can come get the goods for free, eh? LOL I just get really weird sometimes and when I notice that someone's added me sometimes I'll go through my "friend of" list and see if I can pick them out but it's getting to the point of where everyone's blending together, so it's harder now. :| I'm bizarre.

No, I always appreciate posts like these, so that I know it wasn't something I did, but rather a routine sort of thing. Catch you on the flip-flop! Hee. I mean, see you around. :D

Thank you so much for understanding. :) Maybe we'll drift back into the same circles eventually!

I'm still left? I'm sorry I was just totally expecting to be cut. Just 'cause I'm one bad commenter myself but I am kept... right?

I've never defriended anyone so far (I've had my journal for two years) so I'm not sure how you are feeling but *hugs* Sometimes cuts are nessicary.
