Lately, there's seems to be an amnesty or something for stupid people, which I do not support. Maybe it's because I'm a cranky bitch, or may it's because I try to be so careful when I post/comment, but like you I don't feel that "being new" should be a catch-all excuse for doing stupid shit. Like, one my pet peeves is exactly what you pointed out in your post, people who demand writing in any way. Like, last week, I get this comment on the latest chapter of a WIP I'm doing (which is way overdue, I know that, but life isn't being kind to me right now and I just don't have the time for it at the moment) and basically the comment said, "Hello? Hello! *taps monitor* I'm waiting for the next chapter." and continued on along that vein. Now, this person has never commented on my fic before, and I don't even know her, and it pissed me off. I think a lot of people who don't write have this idea that it's really easy, that you just have to sit down at a computer and a story explodes from your fingertips or something. They fail to grasp that it takes time, and more than that, while I'm really glad that people are still interested in the story, and I really want to finish it for them, I don't actually owe them my writing, you know? And I have a real life, with real problems, that takes precedence over writing fanfic (sadly). Anyway, sorry to go on a bitchy rant in your journal.
