FINALLY! I have some spec for the rest of the season but if you follow my journal at all you know how totally spoilerphobic I am, so there's NO worries about any of it meaning anything at all for future episodes.

First off, I just have to say that this whole waiting to dl the episode shit is for the birds. I don't know how all the international people and people without cable/satellite have done it all this time. This SUCKS. I think I might have to create a non-spn filter for Thursday nights or something because it's SO HARD to avoid all those episode reviews and things.

After being what seemed like the ONLY person in fandom not to think last week's episode was the bee's knees (and that's still pending a re-watch. I want to try and distance myself a little so I'm not swayed by all the positive reviews and my own disappointment with it) it was nice to see this episode and be engaged with it, wondering what's going to happen.

I really liked the idea of this epispde. I found it a little heavy handed with the demon and Dean having a conversation and the way it was so obviously set up but at the same time it was nice to see the perspective of the demon. You even started to like her somewhat.

Also, hello mytharc information! Hi! Nice to see yoU! Can I say how excited I am over the information the demon revealed about the role Sam was supposed to play in the demon war and how he's seen by everyone?! I really, really liked that. And it definitely opens up A LOT of ideas about how the rest of the season is going to play out and how people are angling or are going to be.

Ruby still bugs me. There's just something about Katie Cassidy's ACTING. She's so smug and ... PURSED LIPS with her delivery. You don't need to purse your lips when you speak to give off the impression of someone who's got all the information and is trying to be smug about it. But I will admit, lady is Smokin'. This episode, especially. At least my question about how a hunter can look so shiny and polished is solved. When you're a demon you're automatically hot.

Is it just me or does Bobby seem to be getting testier this season? Is it almost constantly having people underfoot when he's used to living out in the middle of nowhere on his own like the Unibomber? Is is the stress of the war? Of being part of letting out dozens/hundreds of demons a couple months ago (loved the time jump, too)? Could be any number of factors. It's nice to know that even Bobby is freaking out about all this. He's always just been like- yeah, okay. Whatevs, you know?

No big gore factor this episode but the guy shooting himself in the church was pretty intense. And Ritchie's head getting spun around was kinda icky. And awesome all at once. Hmmm.

Ritchie was a rather boring plot device. He wasn't particularly smart and ... meh. I miss Ash. I'm still holding out hope that he didn't actually die in the fire.

The hooker with the red lips and sweater who hit on Dean in the bar looked like Haylie Duff. I don't think that's a good thing. The whole Ritchie/hooker thing did make me wonder if Dean's ever stooped so low as to pay for sex. I mean, CLEARLY he doesn't need to but I wonder if a couple times he's been hard up and a woman's been really attractive... I'm kind of torn on it. I don't think Dean WOULD but then again, a couple times...

I liked how many areas this episode touched on. Dean opened up a little to the demon, asked about Hell. For a moment, before Sammy showed up, I wondered if Dean was a touch close to losing is shit when she kept pressing him about being scared about going to hell, about dying, etc. It seemed like Dean was so adament about NOT being concerned he was working himself into a tizzy. Yes, that's right--a tizzy.

I like how they brought up the idea that Sammy might not have come back 100% himself. At this point I think it's just a way for the demons to play on Sam and Dean's worries and fears, to bring back the memories of when Dean thought he might have to kill Sammy. Those demons are going all out--either trying to kill the Winchesters or to bring Sammy over to their side to lead the cause. It's very, very interesting. The whole idea that the demons want someone to lead them and Sam was it- whoa. That's AWESOME. I love it. I can't wait to see how it'll play out.

I can kind of see Ruby slowly gaining Sam's trust even though he'll deny it every step of the way. And then, when we get near the middle/endish of the season, she sways him over to her side so that he'll lead the demons. Perhaps she'll trick him into thinking that he HAS gone evil and that he has to leave Dean. Also, the temptation that she holds the key to save Dean will sway him MAJORLY, obvs. I can see him joining up with them all and then maybe, somehow, connecting with Dean and using his in with the demons and being their leader to blow them all back to Hell. And I wouldn't be surprised if Ruby is trying to align herself with Sam not just to bring him over to the demon's side but also so she could, perhaps, take the place of the queen to his boy king.

I'm not sure how well I bought the idea of Dean finding common ground with the demon to the point of trying to get Sam to not shoot her when he burst in. At least, not after she admitted that they wanted Sam to lead them. Had their roles been revered, and Sam had been the one suspended in the air by a demon you'd bet Dean would be shooting the fuck out of any demons around, no matter what Sam tried to do to stop him. So for Dean to make the automatic leap that there must be something wrong with Sam, like YED implied in the s2 finale, doesn't feel quite right. But I understand why the writers wanted to make that connection, to set up what's to come.

Also, was the demon's line, "Go screw yourself, that's why," a deliberate reference to Hendricks (I'm NEVER going to spell his name right) from "Nightshifter" or was it just an awesome enough line to use it twice, or a variation of it? Cause I enjoy that line.

I'm really excited to see where the whole "Boy King" thing goes over the next few episodes and how Ruby chooses to continue aligning herself with the boys. At this point Dean's the only one who hasn't seen her and for a moment I entertained the thought that perhaps she was only a figment of Sammy's imagination but then she went to Bobby, so that's clearly out. Also, now that Dean knows what the demons (or some of them) wanted Sam to be to them, WHAT he means to them and that there are others gunning for him, I wonder what he's going to do with that information and how it's going to affect the way he looks at Sam. The questions about their mother and her friends and her connection with the demon have to get rolling, too, and where the hell is the FBI when you'd think they'd be all over Sam and Dean?

Bobby looks like a comic character to me here. You know that one with the big nose, I think, and he wears his hat so low you can't see his face? Yeah, it's funny. Trust me.

I wonder if the way the Colt kills demons now (more red) has anything to do with the fact that they're not using the original bullets anymore or perhaps whatever Ruby did to get it to work affected it.

I can't deny that she's VERY pretty. But pretty doesn't equal talented, unfortunately.

I think it was here that I started wondering about Ruby's motivation and how/if Sam was going to sway towards her as the season progresses. SUSPENSE!
