Title: when you finally know just how low, low, low
Pairing: Stefan/Elena
Rating: R
Words: 730-ish, unbeta'd
Warnings: potential dubcon? I tried to write around it but there is some definite overtones for it. If dubcon squicks you it might be best to keep going.
Disclaimer: no harm, no foul, don't own.
Summary:Betraying everyone's trust was probably the hottest part.
A/N:This fic represets so many things, especially right now. Not only is it the first fic I'm writing in The Vampire Diaries fandom but it's the first fic I've written since my
spn_j2_bigbang last summer. I make no illusions about the quality of this. I'm mostly just so proud that I had an idea and saw it through from start to finish. It's short, unbeta'd and was written at 1am after I had an image from it pop into my head while trying to sleep. I've also never really identified anything in any of my fics as dubcon (that I can remember, anyway) so that's new, too.
I feel like saying something almost formal-like here because this IS my first TVD fic, as bad as it (probably?) is. A grand ribbon cutting? A ceremonial parade? Ah, fuck it. If you like it great. If not, keep going and maybe next time it'll work out.
Betraying everyone's trust was probably the hottest part. And Stefan knew it was everyone.
Elena would eventually find out and she'd be upset. More than upset. But Stefan couldn't help himself. He knew that their relationship would even painfully in the end--whether it was because of this or something else didn't matter.
They were doomed any which way.
Damon would be livid. He'd probably try to kill Stefan, maybe tell Elena about it himself. Anything to screw Stefan over. But deep down he'd be more hurt about the betrayal.
Katherine. Oh, Katherine.
She was the reason Stefan was doing this to begin with--or so Stefan told himself.
He could feel her anger from the other side of the wall. Her rage seeped through the decades of stone and dirt and enchantment. It made him hard as he thrust into Elena, over and over.
Elena trusted him implicitly. He asked her to take the necklace off. At first he played it like he was curious how she would react, to see if she ever wondered what it would feel like. What it would be like for him to compel her. She admitted she thought about it before and she allowed him to try it without reservation.
Too easy.
It was small things at first--getting her to say funny, stupid things. Having her cook a whole meal. Wiping the memory of her writing an entire letter. The boundaries fell steadily as Stefan tested the limits of his power. He did things with her, to her, he wasn't sure he would approach with her if she weren't compelled. That reality made him hesitant at first but the feel of Elena's heart beating faster and faster under his hand, making her moan into his mouth even though she wasn't truly in her own head kept him going.
The first time he took her to the tomb at Fell's Church where Emily, possessing Bonnie, destroyed the pendant he was ashamed. He could tell that Elena was anxious even through the influence he had over her. Truth be told, he was on edge as well. But instead of turning around and taking them home like he should have Stefan fucked them through their worried. On the surface, above the tomb, he asked if she would suck him off and she dropped to her knees with a wicked smile. A smile that was so reminiscent of Katherine that Stefan's body felt as hot as a human's.
"Tell me you love me," Stefan whispered the night he finally took Elena underground. "Tell me."
"I love you," Elena replied obediently. She wrapped her arms around his neck tighter.
Stefan made sure she kept her shirt on so she wouldn't get scratched up but he shoved it up over her breasts so he could suck her nipples. As his teeth scraped her flesh Elena involuntarily moaned and her muscles squeezed around him deep inside her.
In his head Stefan thought he could hear what was left of Katherine screaming at him. He grinned to himself and thrust into Elena harder.
He pressed the palms of his hands against the wall as his body began to shake. Elena clutched at him, whimpering and whispering loving words at him until he came, messy and exhausted. Elena slowly lowered her legs from around his waist while Stefan stayed where he was, still pressing her against the wall.
In a minute he moved one hand between her legs while he kept the other on the wall. His knowing fingers made quick work of Elena, smiling into her neck as she came apart around him.
The enraged screaming in his head reached a crescendo until he had to take his hand away from the wall.
Elena panted lighting in Stefan's ear. He helped her get herself together before turning back to the tomb wall. He brushed his fingers against it lightly.
"Now I'm fucking with you," he murmured.
"What?" Elena asked, confused. Stefan worried the allure was wearing off her so he looked at her quickly and caught her eyes.
"Did you have a good time?" he asked slowly. Elena gave him a sleepy grin and nodded. "Good. And when you think of it you'll remember being warm and safe in my bed."
"Yeah," she replied, eyes fixed on him. He reached out and brushed some hair back from her face softly.
"Love you," Stefan whispered.
All Elena could do was smile back.

Ah, Stefan! You are finally interesting me. I loved the two-sides-of-the-coin look you gave here. For one, he's still a gentleman and doesn't want to hurt Elena. He's not out to kill or destroy. He just wants what he wants which is not such a simple and gentle thing after 160 years of being a vampire. He has advantages over her and he takes them. It's not something he's entirely proud of, but neither is it eating him up with guilt.
And the other side of course, that he's mightily pissed at Katherine, who cursed him with this long life and no knowledge of what to do with himself. I think Katherine would be far more nervous of Stefan's wrath than of Damon's most twisted revenge at this point. I know I'm never as troubled by Damon because he acknowledges his pettiness and has a sense of humour about how monstrous he could be. Stefan just buries it and sometimes digs it up to roll around in it.
Very nice! My major problem with the show is a lack of dynamic tension between Elena and Stefan. It's good to see it used here, and it makes a handy little character study of Stefan as well.
