Sweet Charity is open! I'm offering fic AND icons! There's already been over 2500$ US raised for this thing so let's keep it going, hmm? I'm offering up something in the J2 or SPN (Wincest or Daddy!cest) family as well as a number of icons or a layout (banner only), depending on the bid. If you have some money to spare, check out the site and the people up for grabs and donate for a good cause. :)

There's a little Kripke blurb over here on the Inside Entertainment website. It's totally spoiler free and him talking about the sociological approach to the show. And here is a short blurb on SPN, the CW and last night's ep (unspoilery aside from the general plot of the ep) from The Washington Times that looks down its long nose at the show that caters to "teen girls" and stars Jared as "the sensitive one" and Jensen as "the sarcastic one". Damn, I love media outlets that try to be all cutting and witty about a programme they know NOTHING about.

Mmm'kay, who doesn't want a totally bitchin' animation of Dean blowing the shit out of "Farmer Roadkill"? Cause I sure as hell don't. Not one bit.

*plays that part over and over*

I didn't think this episode was the best one of the season by far. It's not even one of my favourites. But upon the rewatch as I capped it I liked it much better than the first time around. I was really neat to see how what I thought was weird and out of place before actually fit and why.

I don't care if people are going to compare this to The Sixth Sense. I hate The Sixth Sense. I knew Bruce Willis was dead and it annoyed the crap out of me. Here, I didn't know because I didn't expect it to be that simple. I honestly thought through the whole thing that it would turn out that her boyfriend was the guy on the road or that her boyfriend was a demon or some shit. I really, really honestly did.

I made a few notes as I watched, just little things to remember, and I put down that Dean seemed cold and pretty asshole-ish in this episode. But then when it was all revealed in the end it all made sense. I expected that with Tricia Helfer as the guest star they'd have made Dean be a total horndog for her or something and then he wasn't- just the opposite, in fact- and it ALL MAKES SENSE.

I would have liked to have seen some character development with the boys in relation to the mytharc, especially after the long hiatus but I can deal with this. It was actually pretty creepy because the thought of being chased scares the shit out of me. And some guy popping out of nowhere over and over every year without fail to torture someone? Pretty freaky, actually.

I'm not sure I bought the whole ghost story, though. I bought Molly's story but the whole thing felt a little... stretched, I guess. Like the part with the wife who hung herself. That just feels kind of like a way to reinforce that finding dude's body was going to be a bitch cause she was AWOL. But overall the episode didn't feel like it was meant to be a horror story, really; just a love story gone horribly wrong.

I would have liked the ending better if they had shown Molly saying goodbye or something, even if just to herself (a whispered goodbye or something) and then just fading away rather than walking into a bright, white light. It felt kind of like the episode was trying to underscore the boys' faith in things, faith in what they do and belief that what they do every day is right even though they don't know what does happen but it seemed kind of like she went to heaven or something and that would be a definitive answer for what's next, wouldn't it? I just would have preferred a fade-out. Much more ambiguous and would have fit in with the theme of the ep.

I really liked the way they approached the episode from a whole other angle, though. It was like reading a fic written from the third-party character's point of view so you feel somewhat detatched but you get to see the boys from the eyes of a person not in their lives which is awesome as we never get to see that. It did feel a little weird, though, not having everything FROM their POV and being with them every step of the way. It made the episode feel a little jumbled until they explained it all at the end.

Tricia was good. I liked her as a flavour of the week and she screamed well. She was believable and didn't over-act. I have no particular attachment to her as an actress or model and don't even think she's that pretty. I just appreciate her role on the show and how she pulled it off.

Did anyone else notice how this time it was Sam who got to burn things and Dean who was quasi-choked and threatened in this ep? Either that's the writers trying to establish something different because a lot of people have pointed out that Dean's a frickin' pyro or it's more to reinforce their role reversals, to an extent.

The shots in this episode were fun, as well, and even though it was a very dark episode, shot at night and all, it was still very pretty and easy to see. Caps from this ep should be fun.

* 624x352 caps
* Uploaded to my own personal site.
* Comment and CREDIT if taking/using.
* The biggie- NO HOTLINKING. Don't be a bastard and make me replace my sample caps with a bright and gaudy "I'm a thief, ask me how!" message.

Please leave a comment if you're taking some/all of the caps. It takes about three seconds to leave a comment saying 'thank you' so it'd really rock my socks if you could do that. :)

I appreciate each and every comment I get on my caps, even if I don't reply back to you. I try my best to answer any questions that come through but if I miss you nudge me or something and I WILL get to you.

Once the higher res torrent becomes available I'll be posting those caps, as well, but probably not until tomorrow night as I work all day. The [livejournal.com profile] spn_fridayfive will have to wait until then, as well, I guess.

Unnnghhh.... crazy lady outside my window say what?

I swear, Dean is in this episode somewhere.

There he is! Looking understandably confused.

Yeah. Dean tells it like it is. Word.

Um?

Hells yes!

Man, Dean doing two things this eppy: backwards kicking in the secret door and shooting the ghost with one hand. *twitches* HOT!

And Sam's reaction when Dean told her that they were hunting ghosts - *gasp, cough, sputter* LOL.. so damn funny. I was howling!

Took the caps, thank you!! ♥

Hi Mari! :D *waves*

So, The Washington Times (I didn't read the article, but I get the gist) is one of the two main papers here in D.C. The other being The Washington Post, an actual GOOD paper. The Times is a piece of right wing conservative crap and I always wash my hands if someone makes me accidentally touch a copy of it. SO. Their opinion and snottiness is pretty much not a surprise. :D

That scene with Dean and the shotgun makes me BOUNCE with glee. Yes yes YES.

Did anyone else notice how this time it was Sam who got to burn things...

Funnily enough, I've been having an ongoing discussion about Dean and fire with my friend [livejournal.com profile] deathisyourart. Ever since she pointed out that they have NOT burned a body since they burned John's body in ep. 2 this year. (!!!) And now Dean has gone SIXTEEN episodes without lighting anything on fire., since Sam did this one. Of course, she said this to me so I'd write a fic about it and so now I am doing so. SHE's TRICKY that way.

I pretty much agree with your thoughts as well! :D

1) Love your caps. You're awesome for always doing it so thank you, darling.

2) I'm like you with this episode's reveal. I figured out The Sixth Sense pretty quickly, but I didn't see this coming...but it made more sense for the outsider POV in the end. I'll have to rewatch it now. (like I need an excuse)

Sorry, this comment got lost in my inbox and I missed replying to it.

I googled "VLC media player", I think, and found the forums for the player. That's the only way I figured out how to use it. I've frigged with mine so much that the settings are like- stuck so I don't even know how I got them anymore. :( Find the forums and you should be able to search for anything you need.

I totally agree about the ending, it seemed a little over the top to have her fade into the bright light and all, especially after the doubt both Sam and Dean exhibited in 'Houses of the Holy' and how they were talking throughout the episode about not knowing what comes after. I think it's because I like the fact that Sam and Dean are working toward this greater good without them knowing exactly what it is or if it exists, and to have it proven to them would make what they do seem less... I'm not sure what exact word I want here, less selfless perhaps?

Other than that, I quite liked the episode, I thought as a standalone it was pretty good. And I'm taking your caps :P You're awesome.

I enjoyed this episode, I figured out the big twist a little too early, so it wasn't such a shock for me...but it worked. I still don't exactly know how she died and David walked away with all of his limbs, that part was really ambiguous, but I knew there was something off about her from the beginning. I initially thought she was a ghost who'd died in like the 60s or something, especially with "House of the Rising Sun" playing...but it worked with her dying in '92, that's a lot of time to not realize you're dead lol :P

I liked this pic spam and while I think, from this one time I've seen her that she's a decent actress, I don't think she's all that pretty either, for what it's worth :)
